New to the site: the San Diego Hoʻolauleʻa Hawaiian Cultural Festival returns Saturday and Sunday, August 22–23, 2026, at NTC Park in Liberty Station, starting at 9 a.m. each day (closing time not confirmed by organizers; the 5 p.m. estimate shown here is based on past years).
First held in 2011 by Uncle Jordan and Aunty Marla Martin and hosted yearly through 2021, the festival was revived in 2024 and is now produced by Hālau Hula o Makalani Nā Pilialoha, a traditional hula school based in Vista and Chula Vista. The free, family-friendly event celebrates Hawaiian culture through live music and hula performances, both kahiko (ancient) and ʻauana (modern), from hālau near and far, alongside a cultural village with educational activities about life in the Hawaiian Islands.
Expect Hawaiian food, boutique and craft vendors, and shopping in addition to the entertainment lineup.
